This was the first fun project. I found a chunk of wood behind the barn and started thinking what a great sign this would make. First I made a paper stencil with perforations on the out lines and used chalk powder to mark the wood. I used a router to make the letters and proceeded to age the wood.
I used an ax, a wire wheel and a hand grinder to age the wood.
Using a torch brought out the grain and the wire wheel sanded off the excess charcoal.
Several coats of urethane gave it a deep luster.
Yellow paint as a primer.
Two coats of gold metallic paint.
Eventually other signs will be added hanging underneath and attached to the top.
